My name is Jeff Dudley and I am the Founder and President of LeadeReliability.  
Over my 30 plus years of experience in the Chemical Industry I have repeatedly discovered that many individuals and organizations consistently settle on a few things.

And it is rarely because of lack of effort.  They are working on the wrong things and are reactive rather than proactive.

What I have learned from my experience is that it is not our leadership, but often we manage instead of leading.  It is not the fact that we are unreliable, but it is the fact that we settle for being less reliable than we could be.  We allow unplanned events to dictate much of what we do and we treat unplanned events as a normal occurrence rather than an offense.   

Leadership 
Often times we confuse managing with leadership.  Managing is doing and Leading is convincing others that they should follow where you want them to go.  Once convinced, they develop a personal reason for wanting to go there themselves.  
Colin Powell said this, 


"Leadership is the art of accomplishing more than the science of management says is possible."

So management and leadership are as different as science and art.  What we know about science is that it is always the same until it is proven wrong but art is personal and different and ever changing and free flowing.  

Reliability 
The constant and consistent ability to meet our commitments is how I define reliability.  And it all starts with individual reliability and evolves into organizational reliability.  Organizations are made up of individuals, so if the individuals are not reliable then the organization can't be.  It is not that we are unreliable, but it is that we are not as reliable as we could be

If you don't work on both Individual Leadership and Reliability you will be mired in average performance and disappointing to your stakeholders, shareholders and yourself. 

If you chose to work on one you may make some gains but they will not be sustainable.  If instead you chose to improve on both Leadership and Reliability you will make significant and permanent gain, because they are so intertwined and so connected you can't have one without the other and that is why it is called:
